Food & Beverage Logistics

Food & Beverage Logistics & Customs Clearance

Customs clearance and temperature-controlled freight for food and drink imports. DEFRA requirements, port health inspections and UK food safety rules are handled as part of the clearance.

Food & Beverage Industry Expertise

Food imports get more checks than most goods. Depending on the product and where it comes from, you may need health or phytosanitary certificates, an IPAFFS pre-notification and a port health inspection before the goods are released.

We arrange all of that. Fresh produce travels in temperature-controlled containers, vehicles and storage from origin to your premises, and we handle ambient goods as well.

Food & Beverage Compliance & Regulations

The rules that apply to food imports, and what we do about each one.

Port Health & DEFRA Checks

We deal with the Port Health Authorities and DEFRA for you, including the IPAFFS pre-notification and booking inspections. Note: Physical border checks and fees on EU medium-risk fruit and vegetables remain suspended until 31 January 2027 under the BTOM SPS easement.

Food Safety & Hygiene

We follow UK food safety regulations, HACCP principles and hygiene standards at every stage of transport and storage.

Health Certificates & Phytosanitary

We prepare the health certificates, phytosanitary certificates and, for seafood, catch certificates. High-risk plants and animal products require full SPS certification; medium-risk EU fruit and vegetables benefit from the temporary inspection easement to 31 January 2027.

Labelling & Allergen Compliance

We explain the UK's post-Brexit labelling rules for country of origin, allergen information and nutrition.

Specialist Handling for Food & Beverage Goods

How we handle food and drink:

Cold Chain Management

Refrigerated containers, vehicles and storage keep the cold chain unbroken from origin to destination, with the temperature monitored at each stage.

Food-Grade Facilities

BRC-standard warehousing with segregated storage, pest control and hygiene procedures.

Shelf-Life Management

FEFO (First Expired, First Out) stock rotation, so shorter-dated stock goes out first and less is wasted.

Quality Inspection

Every food shipment is inspected on arrival, including its temperature and the condition of the packaging.

Food & Beverage Logistics FAQ

Common questions about food & beverage shipping and customs.

It depends on the product and the origin country. Most shipments need some combination of health certificates, phytosanitary certificates, an IPAFFS pre-notification, a commercial invoice and a packing list. Products of animal origin (POAO) have extra requirements. We prepare the documents for you.

Temperature-controlled containers, vehicles and storage keep the cold chain intact from origin to your premises. We monitor the temperature throughout and clear customs quickly, which keeps transit time and lost shelf life down.

Products of animal origin (meat, dairy, fish), some plant products and high-risk foods from certain countries need a DEFRA or Port Health inspection. We pre-notify the authorities and book the inspection so the goods are not kept waiting.

Yes. We manage the Certificate of Inspection (COI) in the TRACES system so your products keep their organic status through import.
